- Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Studies Core Courses-
* Foundations
of Interdisciplinary
Studies (BIS 301) :This course teaches you concepts and methods of
interdisciplinary study by critically examining anticipated 21st-century
workplace and civic trends. This is a three credit course.
* Interdisciplinary
Studies (BIS 302): This course will explore a number of research methods used
across a wide range of disciplines. In particular, we will investigate general
characteristics, approaches, strengths and weaknesses associated with
statistical analysis, interviewing, observation, and the scientific method. An
underlying theme will be critical thinking-challenging students to question
their own assumptions by exploring common problems associated with everyday
reasoning.
* Applied
Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS 401) : This is an online course designed to
enable students to learn about their concentration areas in an applied setting,
as well as gain practical experience. Students make connections between their
course work and hands-on knowledge by applying interdisciplinary
problem-solving skills or research. You must complete a total of 125 hours
throughout the academic semester.
* Senior
Seminar (BIS 402) : This is a senior seminar. The faculty offers a variety of
topics that use interdisciplinary approaches to explore an issue. Students are
encourages to select the topic from those available that semester, which best
fits their interests.
